
The "signing statement", in a nutshell, is a statement, written by the president, tacked onto a bill that essentially indicates "I'm am signing this bill into law, but I disagree with it." The president is indicating that despite the bill becoming law, the president has no intention on following it.
Despite line-item vetos being outlawed on the basis that they are unconstitutional in 1988, Bush has utilized the signing statement as a means to, essentially, accomplish a similar result.

Day after day, more things are uncovered about this administration....and we continue deeper into the rabbit hole. How far does this thing go and how deep will the Congress finally feel is "deep enough?"
